The seismic strengthening of Wellington Central Fire Station is well under way. A total of 36 ground anchors have been installed, eight ground beams built and eight new shear walls are currently well into constructed. All the ceilings at levels one and two have been removed for replacement with a seismically braced suspended ceiling system. All services are currently being seismically restrained. A new light weight roof screed that falls from 220mm down to 30mm thick has successfully been placed ready for the application of a trafficable asphalt member. We are pleased to report that to date no cracks have been noted in the screed.
