Gear Homestead is a two storey timber framed homestead. This building required strengthening due to unreinforced masonry chimneys, lack of subfloor bracing and minimal bracing walls at the front of the building.
Silvester Clark worked closely with the Porirua City Council and heritage architect to achieve a cost effective solution while working hard to keep the heritage of the structure intact. We also helped in creating an open plan room to the front of the building to help utilise the space for functions. The strengthening is close to being finished and is shaping up to be a great venue with an outlook over Porirua Harbour.
