Ashhurst Fire Station

Ashhurst Fire Station

This project involved seismically strengthening the Ashhurst Fire Station to greater than two thirds the required strength of an Importance Level 4 building.  The station structure consists of a concrete appliance bay and a two storey timber framed office and training wing.

The appliance bay was strengthened using concrete frames constructed at the front and rear and by strengthening the roof structure with steel cross bracing.  Strengthening of the two storey wing was carried out utilising Gib bracing elements used to line walls and ceilings.

As part of the works the station was also refurbished and made code compliant.  The strengthened station is now fully operational and we understand the brigade love their refurbished station.
