This two storey circa 1937 building had been assessed by the local authority as potentially earthquake prone.

The owner of the building approached Silvester Clark informing them that another engineer had told them that it was not worth strengthening the building and that it should be demolished.

Silvester Clark completed a detailed seismic assessment that found that by strengthening the roof structure (diaphragm) it could meet 100% of the current standards. An economical strengthening solution was developed and as a result a very happy client had a building that met 100% of the seismic standards for less than $20,000 including fees.
